We’re Returning to Parkland at the Lakes!

We’re thrilled to announce the return of our monthly visits with the seniors at Parkland at the Lakes on Baker Drive in Dartmouth!

What We’ll Do

Our homeschooling families will spend an hour with the residents:

• Playing board games, puzzles and cards

• Sharing stories

• Building meaningful intergenerational connections

• Singing along to timeless favourites

We’re also incredibly lucky to have Jenn Tucker and her family bring their instruments and lead us in a sing-along! These visits are always very popular with the residents, especially when we sing classics from Johnny Cash, Elvis and other favourites.

The seniors genuinely look forward to seeing the children each month, and our visits bring so much happiness to the room.

Schedule

 First Tuesday of every month

 October 2026 through June 2027

 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Location

 Parkland at the Lakes

Baker Drive, Dartmouth

There will be no registration form for these visits.

One week before each visit, I’ll post a reminder on Facebook and send a Zeffy reminder. If your family plans to attend that month, please comment on the reminder post on Facebook or respond via email.

Parkland kindly provides snacks and drinks for our families, so it’s important that we give them an accurate attendance estimate.

Communication Expectations

Plans can change, and that’s completely understandable. If you’ve commented that you’re attending but can no longer make it, please send me a quick private message so I can update our numbers.

Please don’t rely only on commenting on Facebook to notify me, as comments may not always generate a notification unless you tag my name.

A Meaningful Opportunity

Some visits may have a large crowd, while others may be quieter because of the weather or another activity at the home. Smaller visits can be especially meaningful, giving families more opportunities to sit down, talk and connect with residents who may really need companionship that day.

If volunteering for one hour and helping build meaningful connections between youth and local seniors sounds like something your family would enjoy, we hope you’ll join us.

Come play, sing, laugh and help us brighten a senior’s day!
